Beijing Olympics 2008

I was honoured to cover my second summer Olympic Games in Beijing for The Telegraph. There were so many highlights it's impossible to list, but this collection of pictures probably represent the moments which stuck in my memory.

August 8th 2008. The spectacular Opening Ceremony comes to it's climax with the lighting of The Olympic Cauldron by Chinese artistic gymnastic Li Ning.

GB swimmer Rebecca Adlington wins gold in the women's 800m freestyle in a new world record time of 8.14.10
GB's Sir Chris Hoy beats Mohd Azizulhsni Awang of Malaysia on his way to winning gold in The Men's Sprint. Hoy won three gold medals in the velodrome in Beijing.
Usain Bolt from Jamaica wins the Men's 100 meters gold in a World Record time of 9.69 secs.
China take on China in the semi-final of the women's beach volleyball tournament.
Shelly-Ann Fraser of Jamaica celebrates as she wins the 100m gold ahead of two of her fellow Jamaicans Sherone Simpson and Kerron Stewart.

Men's 10,000 meter final.
Ethiopia's Kenenisa Bekele wins the final in an Olympic Record time of 27.01.17 to win his second 10,000m Olympic Gold medal.

Superstar Lionel Messi takes on Ekpo and Kaita during Argentina's gold medal winning 1-0 win over Nigeria.

The hotly fancied USA Men's 4 x 100 relay team drop the batten on the last change as Darvis Patten attempts to pass the baton to Tyson Gay.

The Women's Marathon.
Devastated GB athlete Paula Radcliffe crying as she runs her lap around the Birdsnest Stadium in Beijing to finish 23rd overall. Radcliffe suffered cramp during the race to the point where she had to stop running to stretch out.

Women's 100m Final.

GB's 400m Gold Medalist Christine Ohuruogu is overcome with joy at a post race press conference.
GB Lightweight Men's Double sculls gold medal winners Zac Purchase in the bow and Mark Hunter celebrate as they cross the line to pip the boats from Greece and Germany.
Women's BMX final.
GB's much favoured Shanaze Reade crashes out of the final on the last bend after trying an impossible manoeuvre in an attempt to get past the eventual gold medal winner, Anne-Caroline Chausson of France.
